COVID 19 & Real Estate

Blog by Heather Harris, Broker | March 24th, 2020

Real estate in Ontario has been declared an essential service.  In this environment, we must conduct our business in strict accordance with Public Health guidelines in order to contribute to the greater overall good of eliminating COVID 19 from our communities and in fact, our country.  Chestnut Park Real Estate Ltd has developed strict protocols that agents, clients, and third parties must follow in the these new and uncertain times.

Some of the steps we are taking:

We are currently not showing properties to buyers, for at least the next 14 days.  If a buyer wishes to see a property, we encourage them to review all online materials.  If they wish an on site visit, we will inquire if the listing agent, once vetted for COVID 19 related criteria, is available and willing to show them.

At Listings:

We are providing alcohol wipes, hand sanitizer and gloves for all agents and clients at listings.
We are conducting mulitple daily sanitization of doorknobs, doors, light switches, countertops at listings.
We are holding no open houses.
Double bookings of showings will not be permitted.
All agents and clients must first confirm in writing that they have not travelled out of the country or been in contact with anyone who has travelled out of the country in the past 14 days before being granted access.
All agents and clients to confirm in writing that they have not any symptoms or been in contact with anyone diagnosed, or with the symptoms of COVID 19 before being granted access.
We are insisting that all agents and clients visiting our listings practice safe hygiene, use hand sanitizer or put on gloves before entering.   Agents and clients are asked to limit touching as much as possible.  Washroom facilities are not to be used.
Showings must be limited to the buyer only.  Extra family or friends will not be permitted.

Should you wish to review our policies and protocols, please reach out to us at any time.  We must all do all we can and stand together in this crisis.
